Using refill stores for great vegan options; plastic free and mostly packaging free shopping; discovering new products and a more efficient and therefore eco friendly food consumption, as well as a cost saving option with greatly reduced food waste.

Good vegan food can be ordered to the home and more and more is available from independent as well as chain restaurants on our high streets.

TO VEGAN, OR NOT TO VEGAN

It could be overnight, it could be a gentle process of giving up animal products, it could be watching a documentary or hearing what someone says about the food industry that slowly niggles at the back of your mind and starts you thinking but however it happens it’s a change that will benefit you, your health, the animals and the planet – that’s quite an impact.

The statistics show how numbers of vegans and people trying ‘Veganuary‘ has increased massively in the past few years. Pre-2020 supermarkets, big brands and individuals had been taking big steps to support the plant powered movement, but this has ramped up in the last two years. Supermarkets and independents are offering a huge array of products making it easier and easier to find and use alternatives to meat and other animal products.

These are productive and positive steps, and their importance is huge, however at the root of the problem is mankind's relationship with animals, the consumer drive for products and the push for lower prices that create the cause and effect of the meat industry on this planet. It is about informing, educating and giving people the tools to want to make the changes.

BUT the last thing 'us vegans' want to be is preachy. It's a balance being passionate about something but not coming across as pushing our views on people. I think from the heart we want people to see through our eyes and realise their impact on the lives of animals and the effect on our planet and it's future.

The eternal question - how do you tell someone they are part of the problem?

THE REASON WE STARTED
When you realise you are quite obsessed with discovering new vegan food, leading a good vegan life, as well as looking constantly for easier, quicker ways to get good vegan food into your diet, I figured getting all that information on (virtual) paper was a good idea.

The journey to discover new recipes and remember old ones, to find where to buy the best vegan foods, to seek out what restaurants give great vegan options, to explore the current vegan product market and look into the meaning behind going plant-based.
