Mint ice cream dream…

Sometimes it’s just too tempting when you see you’re favourite ice cream flavour from a new vegan ice cream brand. So in went this (beautifully designed) pot of Northern Bloc ice cream to my Ocado basket and I couldn’t wait to try it.

I almost forgot about it, having not unpacked the shopping myself, but when I remembered – it was straight in there with a spoon to sample and review.

I was not disappointed. Dipping my spoon into the firm, close texture of the plant based joy, I was initially hit with a fantastic scent. Reminiscent of the very retro Elizabeth Shaw mint chocolates – that mix of dark chocolate with crisp tangy mint, each spoonful was a flavour dance in my mouth. It’s rich but light, strong in taste but balanced and not overwhelming in the mint nor the chocolate. There’s no claggy feeling from the texture that is often the case with coconut based ice creams. Every mouthful was perfection, a bit of chocolate biscuit dotted here and there for extra bit and a temptation to just keep going (yes I ate straight from the pot!)
